Atrioventricular Synchronization

چکیده

Complete heart block implies an absolute independence between atria and ventricles that does not in fact always exist. Segers showed that, after complete block was artificially produced in the frog's heart, atria and ventricles would sometimes begin to beat exactly in phase, most commonly in a 2 to 1 ratio. He subsequently reported one clinical example of 2 to 1 A-V synchronization in a patient with complete heart block. Two further cases that may illustrate different varieties of synchronization are here presented.

Neocortical synchronization.

Neuronal synchronization occurs when two or more neuronal events are coordinated across time. Local synchronization produces field potentials. Long-range synchronization between distant brain sites contributes to the electroencephalogram. Neuronal synchronization depends on synaptic (chemical/electrical), ephaptic, and extracellular interactions. For an expanded treatment of this topic see Jasp...

Mechanism of synchronization in isorhythmic A-V dissociation. 3. Computer model.

An analog computer model has been developed to study the mechanism of the atrioventricular synchronization in one type of isorhythmic A-V dissociation (pattern I). The computer model simulates the following biological feedback control system: (1) the ventricular pacemaker frequency is independent of arterial blood pressure (analogous to artificial ventricular pacing); (2) the frequency of the a...

AV Interval Optimization - A Step Towards Physiological Pacing in Patients with Normal Left Ventricular Function

Pacemakers have evolved over a period of time trying to mimic the normal response rates, conduction and activation characteristics, though are still far from what nature has bestowed upon us. Better understanding of cardiac physiology and hemodynamics has led to current available pacing technology and we do recognize now that to achieve physiological pacing we should have an appropriate heart r...
